When Wordpad shipped with Windows everyone mourned the loss of Notepad.  Not really.  Notepad sucked and continues to suck today.   The new version of Wordpad is being eagerly anticipated in Windows 7. In the mean time you can preview a copy of it, complete with the Ribbon feel that I hate so much.

Download WordPad 2009.  I would like to mention that this is not a Microsoft product it is a hack that was built by a ribbon loving tech guru.

Some of the features in this version of Notepad is tabbed views, slick graphics and the ribbon feel.  You can also drag and drop text files to open them, preview of fonts in selection box and drag and drop images straight into Wordpad 2009.
