Google Cloud Print enables any application (web, desktop, mobile) on any device to print to any printer.

Applications submit print jobs to the service via the web-based common print dialog or API offered by the service. Google Cloud Print then sends the print job to the selected printer which the user has previously registered with the service. A new class of cloud-aware printers connects directly to the service and offers the best user experience. Legacy printers connect to the service via a proxy.

An interesting spinoff of the CloudPrint concept is that leveraging OpenID (Google adopted OpenID some time ago) a user could potentially go to any printer at any location and use their Gmail account, Facebook account or Flickr account to send a print job.  The potential is quite staggering.

There are obvious security considerations but since the printers need to be registered with the Google CloudPrint service to work, you are enabling this functionality at your discretion and undoubtedly ACL’s will be built into the solution.

Gmail is a fantastic email tool for personal and corporate use. One of the biggest drawbacks has been the inability to use the system offline the way you could with Outlook or Outlook Express. That has all changed with the introduction of Gmail Offline. Here is how to enable it.

Once this feature is activated, you can use Gmail as a regular service even when you are offline.

You can compose, star, delete, etc when you are offline, all of these actions are stored on your local computer and once you are connected to the internet these actions are synchronized with the Gmail server.

To enable this feature, log in to your Gmail account (personal or organization);

1. Click Settings and click the Labs tab.
2. Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
   

1. Click Save Changes and Log out of your Gmail and restart your browser.

1. After your browser reloads, you’ll see a new “Offline0.1″ or a green beaker link in the upper right-hand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don’t already have it.

The rest is automatic and will be seamless. However, please NOTE!!! that this is an experimental BETA feature an will most likely come and go until it is finalized, so please be patient.

Launch VersaMail. Create a New Account.  Set the Protocol to POP.  Click Next.

Enter your full email address and password.  Click Next.

The Incoming Mail Server is pop.gmail.com and the outgoing Mail server is smtp.gmail.com   Click Next.

Place checkmarks according tot eh screen below and change the Port Number to 995.  If you receive large messages adjust the Maximum Message Size.  By default the Size is set to 2048 KB which is 2 MB Megabytes.  Click Next.

Change the Port Number to 587 under the Outgoing Options.  And place checkmarks as shown in the screen below.  Click Done.

You will now receive the messages that are in you Google Mail Account.

I’m going to assume that you have already bought the software. On your mobile device select the SyncJeBB application found in the "Applications" section.
You will now see the screen shown below:

Now you will need to select the Settings option from the main menu.

This will provide you with the following screen:

You need to enter the following details in order to synchronise with GooSync:

Server URL: http://sync.goosync.com
User Name: Your GooSync username
Password: Your GooSync password

The username is your username@domain.com and your password is the password you set.

Next you need to select the calendar option and enter the name Calendar into the "Foldername" field.

Select the contacts option and enter the name Contacts into the Foldername field.

Once done select the Save option from the menu.

To start the synchronisation process you need to select the Start Sync option from the menu:

AutoSync

The SyncJe client provides the AutoSync feature to allow you to automatically synchronise with the GooSync server.

We recommend that the sync intervals are set to no less than 15 minutes to ensure that connections are established.

The Microsoft version is fully compatible with Firefox and IE (about time Microsoft realized that not everyone is using IE).  The web versions will replicate the functionality of the desktop apps within the browser environment.

Please note: Failing to follow these steps can result in your data being removed from Google.

• After performing a hard reset on your device restore your applications by syncing with the relevant desktop application (Palm Desktop/ActiveSync etc).
• Once your applications are restored open the synchronisation client on your device.
• Go into the Profile Settings and view the Calendar settings.
• Ensure you set the Sync Mode to Slow and click OK.
• Run the sync again to synchronise your Google Calendar data to your device.

You must ensure the Sync Mode is set to Slow before performing the first synchronisation.

If a Normal sync is performed after a hard reset the client will detect that your device calendar data is no longer present and will send delete commands for all these events to Google. This will result in your Google Calendar data being removed.

Google has quietly been developing Android for quite some time now.  Android is the first truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices. It includes an operating system, user-interface and applications — all of the software to run a mobile phone, but without the proprietary obstacles that have hindered mobile innovation.

Google recently announced the Open Handset Alliance and Android with the goal of Android being the foundation for many new phones and will create an entirely new mobile experience for users, with new applications and new capabilities we can’t imagine today.

On a new Pearl or 8800, 8830 etc. you can switch the Theme by going to  Options – Theme and switching if from the Zen Theme which has just 5 application categories on the left hand side, or the Dimension theme which displays all the application icons.
Hide an Icon:

1. Go to the main screen of your blackberry
2. Go to the icon you want to hide
3. Press ALT and then press down on your scroll wheel
4. Select Hide Application

Unhide an Icon:

If you ever need to see your hidden icons again, you can alt+scroll wheel on the main screen and select Show All. This will display all the icons including the hidden ones. Hidden icons will have an X over then. alt+scroll wheel over an X-out icon and uncheck Hide Application.

Repeat the process and uncheck the Show All to rehide the other icons you have set to hidden status.

Move an Icon:

1. Select the icon you want to move
2. Press alt and press the scroll wheel
3. Select Move Application
4. Scroll around and the icon will move with the cursor
5. Press the scroll wheel again when you want to place the icon in the current position

These instructions are specifically for UBUNTU but the operation works for any OS.

Point your browser to Google Browser Sync and under Install Now click the browsersync.xpl link.

Click Agree and Install.

A popup will appear with the name of the extension you are trying to install.  Click the Install Now button.

After downloading and installing the extension, Firefox will restart.  When Firefox launches again you will see the Setup Wizard for the Google Browser Sync Extension.  Click Next.

You will then be prompted for your Gmail username and password, if you don’t have a Gmail account click on the link to create one.

Select the Advanced button to set the preferences you want for synchronization and then click Next.

You will have to then set a PIN number when you set other computers to sync your settings.  Click Next once you have done so.  The PIN is used to encrypt the data if you place a check in the option to encrypt the data.

Then click Finish.

When Firefox loads you will have to again accept the license agreement.  Click on Agree and Install.

You will notice at the top right hand corner of the browser you account name.  If you click it you will get the settings menu.  Click it.  From this menu you can configure which options you want synchronized.  You may also specify if you want to encrypt the data.  Click OK when you are done.

It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions.”

Edit the /etc/network/interfaces file by typing;

sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces

Now comment out the wireless card;

Save the file and exit. You will now have a much faster boot up time than before.
