Today we are officially turning 1 year old. And what a year this has been. We started out as a simple blog, wishing to post some of the tips and tricks that we were aware of and in this past year we have grown tremendously, expanding our arsenal of topics, articles, and how-to’s. Our articles have hit top page of Digg a few times and we have become one of the best sources to go to for the most simple and more complicated Windows and Linux related issues. Our user base has increased steadily over the past few months with many repeat readers coming back for solutions to their every day IT problems.

The past year has also seen our site change visually a few times. Version one of the website, a default theme of BlogCFC, was a good start but after an immense success of one of our articles on Digg, we had to redesign the website. In March, version two was created to mimic the layout and visuals of one of CNet group of websites in order to begin building a brand image of GoITExpert. However, this type of design came too soon on our part, since we were not ready both with the number of articles and the amount of time needed to run such a website. In early June, we reverted back the blog style design, moving away from the BlogCFC platform to a custom in-house blog build. The result is the current look and layout of GoITExpert.

Having decided on the final look for the rest of the year, we dove into creating more useful and exciting content for our readers and the results are impressive indeed. In this past year we have posted over 500 articles and how-to’s, and had an average of 10,000 unique visitors a month with the last three months increasing that number to 30,000. In order to help our readers more, we opened up a new website called AskITExpert.com where you can ask IT related questions and have one of our editors provide a solution for you. Still in its infancy, we hope that one day it will enjoy the growth to rival its big brother GoITExpert.com.

So what is in store for us in this New Year? Well, we have many things planned and today we will give you some sneak peeks into our future. First is the most important improvement to GoITExpert. We will continue to provide more articles and how-tos, posting them more frequently and growing our library of IT Solutions. More, more, and more is our motto for this year. Second improvement will be a new design and visuals for the site. We think that the time is now to convert GoITExpert from the blog to a real how-to’s and IT articles web site. Benefits include better navigation and organization of materials, user registration system for tracking your comments, discussions, and questions that you ask and much, much more. New Tools and API for including our content on your site and Operating System Technology Centers for Vista, XP, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and hopefully OS X (if we can find an expert to helps with that) will round up some of the new changes we expect to introduce over the course of the year.

To sum all of it up, expect many new and exciting things in the year to come. For now, we wish to thank all of our readers for helping us grow this fast and for keeping us around. We also would like to congratulate our editors and authors on a job well done.
