Extend the Windows 7 Trial Activation

Posted on 13 January 2009 by admin

One of the biggest frustrations with Beta Testing is the expiration of the trial software.  With Vista, it was the activation and expiration of valid copies that drove people nuts.  With the Windows 7 Beta out in the wild, testers want more.  Instead of formatting, just extend the expiration date so that Windows 7 stays activated longer.

To extend the activation go to the Command Prompt in the start menu and right-click on it and choose Run as administrator.

In the command prompt window type;

slmgr -rearm

Windows 7 slmgr rearm

You’ll see a dialog box pop up in a few seconds that looks like the one below;

Windows 7 slmgr Success

When you see this window, click OK and reboot your system.

If you check the properties of your System you will see that you now have 30 days left to activate.

You can even automate the re-activation to have an indefinite license for Windows 7.  Read the article here since the same technique works with Windows 7.
