Customize Windows Vista As An OEM Original Equipment Manufacturer
Posted on 13 April 2007 by admin
OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) usually include their logo and other information in the System information applet when pre-installing Windows. This gives the installation an overall more professional look and feel to the product. This article helps you add, remove or modify the OEM logo and information from the system information applet in Windows Vista.
Add or change the OEM info
- Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
- Navigate to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionOEMInformation
Note: If the OEMInformation key is missing, you’ll need to create it. You can download the reg file here to create the keys for you.
- Create string values (REG_SZ) and add matching data, as per the table below:
Value name Data Value type
Logo <Path to your logo file> REG_SZ
Manufacturer <System manufacturer name> REG_SZ
Model <System Model number> REG_SZ
SupportHours <Support hours> REG_SZ
SupportPhone <OEM Support Phone number> REG_SZ
SupportURL <OEM Support URL> REG_SZ

- Exit Registry Editor
* Note: The logo should be a BMP file with a size of 120×120. Logos larger than 120×120 pixels are scaled to 120×120.
Here is what the customized screen will look like. If you click on the Online Support link it will take you to the specified Web-Site.

Works just fine for me.
I no longer need to see the Dell logo under the General tab of my system property.
